Featured Artist: Rollin Kocsis
In each edition of The Baby Boomers News, a free local newspaper found in libraries and other venues throughout the Mid-South area, Himme Productions writes a column entitled "The Art Arena" which highlights gifted artists and photographers.
Spotlight #1 focuses on Rollin Kocsis, a talented artist and former visual arts educator with advanced degrees in both Art Education and Fine Arts in painting. Mr. Kocsis uses vibrant colors and swirling brushstrokes to capture movement in his paintings, such as his "The Wind" painting. Mr. Kocsis is a former visual arts instructor at Westwood High School and he has membership with The Energy Art Movement, an international arts organization.
His extensive careers boasts of art and photography awards such as 2003 Best in Show (Memphis Arts in the Park Senior Juried Art Exhibition), 2000 Best in Show (Hope and Healing Center), and 1989 First Place in Photo-journalism (Tennessee Teacher Magazine). His Solo Exhibitions include the 2008 Parallel Worlds (Christian Brothers University) as well as landscapes and still life artwork shown at Theatre Memphis. Other exhibitions include the 2009 Green Energy Project (Sunset Gallery, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada).
